Yellowtail Challenge 2026

The Yellowtail Challenge is Yzerfontein's toughest fishing test. Every year, boats and anglers gather to face off against one of the ocean's strongest fighters — the yellowtail.

It's more than a fishing competition — it's a challenge of skill, stamina, and West Coast spirit.

  • Date: TBC August 2026

  • Venue: Yzerfontein Harbour & Clubhouse

  • Weigh-in: 11h00 – 15h00

How to Enter

  • Download the 2026 Entry Form.
  • Complete the form and sign the indemnity section.
  • Email your form + proof of payment to yzerbac@gmail.com.
  • Skippers must attend the mandatory safety briefing at the clubhouse before launch.

Rules & Safety

  • All vessels must launch from Yzerfontein slipway.
  • Skippers are responsible for their crew's safety and compliance.
  • NSRI Station 34 will monitor throughout the competition.
  • Only fish weighed on official YBAC scales will qualify.
  • Judges' and Weighmaster's decisions are final.
