Introduction

Welcome to the Yzerfontein Boat & Angling Club (YBAC). By becoming a member, entering competitions, or using our facilities, you agree to comply with the following Terms & Conditions. These terms are designed to protect our members, ensure safe use of the harbour and clubhouse, and uphold the proud traditions of West Coast angling.

Membership Terms

Eligibility & Categories

  • Membership is open to individuals, families, and juniors who support the objectives of YBAC.
  • Categories include Full, Family, Junior, Senior, and Social membership.
  • Voting rights apply only to Full members in good standing.

Renewal & Fees

  • Membership runs annually from 1 January to 31 December.
  • All renewals must be completed by 31 January of each year.
  • Membership is linked to the Yzerfontein Sport & Recreation Club (YSRC). Both YSRC and YBAC subs must be paid.
  • Renewal forms, payments, and proof of payment must be sent to yzerbac@gmail.com.

Refunds & Cancellations

  • Membership fees are non-refundable.
  • Resignation from the club must be submitted in writing to the committee.

Facilities & Slipway Use

General Rules

  • Only paid-up members may use the slipway and facilities.
  • All users must comply with launch protocols, weather advisories, and NSRI safety notices.
  • The Boat Surveyor Service is available to assist with certification and seaworthiness.

Liability

  • Members launch and use facilities at their own risk.
  • YBAC, its committee, and YSRC accept no responsibility for personal injury, loss, or damage to property.

Competitions & Events

Entry Requirements

  • All competition participants must be members or pay the relevant entry fees.
  • Skippers are responsible for their crew’s compliance with rules.
  • Each participant must sign an indemnity form before competing.

Rules & Decisions

  • Official competition rules (as published annually) apply to all events.
  • The Weighmaster’s decision is final.
  • NSRI Station 34 will be on standby for all major events.

Code of Conduct

Expected Behaviour

  • Members must respect fellow anglers, committee members, sponsors, and guests.
  • Discrimination, harassment, or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.
  • Members are expected to uphold the reputation of YBAC in all interactions.

Breach of Conduct

  • Any breach will be reviewed by the committee.
  • Penalties may include suspension or termination of membership without refund.

Legal & Privacy

Indemnity

By joining YBAC or participating in events, you agree that:

  • You do so entirely at your own risk.
  • YBAC, its committee, and YSRC will not be held liable for injury, death, or damage sustained on or off the water during club activities.

Photography & Media

  • Members consent to the use of photographs and videos taken at YBAC events for promotional purposes (website, social media, newsletters).
  • If you do not wish your image to be used, please notify the committee in writing.

Data Protection

  • Personal details (e.g., email, phone number, ID) provided on membership or event forms will be used solely for club administration.
  • Data will not be shared with third parties without consent.

Amendments

These Terms & Conditions may be updated from time to time by the YBAC Committee.
