Yellowtail Challenge 2026

The Yellowtail Challenge is Yzerfontein's toughest fishing test. Every year, boats and anglers gather to face off against one of the ocean's strongest fighters — the yellowtail.

It's more than a fishing competition — it's a challenge of skill, stamina, and West Coast spirit.

Date: 19 September 2026 (20 September backup day)
Venue: Yzerfontein Harbour & Clubhouse
Weigh-in: 11h00 – 15h00

Skippers must attend the mandatory safety briefing at the clubhouse before launch.

Rules & Safety

All vessels must launch from Yzerfontein slipway.
Skippers are responsible for their crew's safety and compliance.
NSRI Station 34 will monitor throughout the competition.
Only fish weighed on official YBAC scales will qualify.
Judges' and Weighmaster's decisions are final.
